Our Origin
BLACKHAIR was born out of a personal journey. Founder Hape Marite Mphale struggled with hair loss and scalp damage caused by chemical relaxers and harsh products. Out of this challenge grew a passion to research, formulate, and create safe, effective, natural hair care solutions for Afro-textured hair.
In 2015, BLACKHAIR launched at Renaissance Café with a simple but powerful mission: to restore confidence, celebrate natural beauty, and empower people to embrace their crowns with pride at a time when very few people were embracing their natural crowns. What started as a personal need has since grown into a trusted brand loved by thousands in Lesotho, South Africa, and beyond.
